While international agencies continue to work to prevent further incidents and have been successful in disrupting terrorist activities before an attack occurs, the threat of terrorism remains constant as evidenced by a number of significant terrorist incidents across the globe since September 11, 2001. Some of these incidents are described below.

| 2007 | Rawalpindi, Pakistan | After completing an address to a rally of her supporters, Benazir Bhutto was killed when shots were fired, followed by an explosion. A total of 21 were killed and 48 injured in the attack. |
| 2007 | Karachi, Pakistan | Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s motorcade was attacked while on route from the airport to her homecoming rally. The two explosions resulted in over 130 deaths and at least 450 injuries. |
